Ernesto Cardenas

Dr Ernesto Cardenas was born in Colombia and raised in South Florida. He graduated with honors from Florida State University and from Ponce School of Medicine. He commissioned as an officer in the United States Army during medical school in pursuit of a lifelong dream of serving his country.
Dr Cardenas completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. He received every teaching award during his residency, numerous surgical awards, and the top Chief Resident award voted by his peers.
Following residency, he served as Resident Education Coordinator at Winn Army Community Hospital in Ft Stewart, Georgia. He would quickly promote to the rank of Major, and served as the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As Chairman, Dr Cardenas promoted departmental advances in minimally invasive surgery, vaginal reconstruction, and specialized procedures such as tubal ligation reversal. He has delivered thousands of healthy babies and has supervised and trained residents, midwives, and young physicians. He is Board Certified and an active member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Deployments to South America and Afghanistan as a Battalion Surgeon have earned Dr Cardenas several military honors including two Army Commendation Medals. In 2011, Dr Cardenas separated from the Army after serving honorably for almost 12 years.
Today, Dr Cardenas is a proud member of Bayshore Womens Healthcare alongside partners that he has known for over a decade. Dr Cardenas cherishes the special relationship that he has with his patients and always strives to surpass their expectations. He believes his role as a physician is to educate his patients on their options and to support them throughout their treatment.
Dr Cardenas is happily married to Dr Leslie Cardenas and the proud parent of two wonderful boys, Gael and Joaquin. In his off time, he enjoys spending time with his family and participating in sports and various motorsports.
